| ORIGINAL, UNPUBLISHED, AUTOGRAPHED WARTIME OFFICIAL KRIEGSMARINE (7 1/2 INCH BY 9 1/2 INCH) BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPH OF U BOAT ACE FREGATTENKAPITAN REINHARD ("TEDDY") SUHREN AND KAPITANLEUTNANT ROLF MUTZELBURG | |||||||||||
| During all of World War II only five (5) U Boat officers ever became winners of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves. Two (2) of these remarkable men, Fregattenkapitan Reinhard Suhren and Kapitanleutnant Rolf Mutzelburg, are not only shown in this rare historical photograph, but both actually also hand autographed it as well. Appearing on the front of the photo, close to his waist, is the ink signature of Fregattenkapitan Suihren (who at the time this photo was taken was a kapitanleutnant). On the reverse of this photo is the full ink signature of Kapitanleutnant Mutzelburg. | |||||||||||

Shown LEFT is a photo scan of the ink autograph of Fregattenkapitan Reinhard Suhren (Kapitanleutnant at the time this photo was taken) which was signed by this Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves winner on the front of the photograph, located near his waist in the photo, in dark black ink. A comparative of Reinhard Suihren's signature with that of Kapitanleutnant Mutzelburg, as it appears on the reverse of the photo, would seem to suggest that they were both signed with the same pen and ink, albeit with completely different writing styles. |
