Unfortunately, by the time that he was contacted at work by a friend who first advised him that this particular peaked hat was available, there were only a few hours left before the auction was due to close. Since the office where he worked was managed by an individual who he perceived might take offense if it were discovered he collected National Socialist items, the collector in question decided to visit another person who worked for a separate company in his same office building that would let him use a computer for just a moment to view the subject hat online. Unfortunately, the auction's rules requiring the covering of swastikas in photographs, made it difficult for him to commit to such a large purchase without seeing more of the hat, or being able to communicate with the seller by e-mail, which he dared not do at that moment.
