ABOUT RARE MILITARIA
GET TO KNOW AND TRUST YOURSELF
After providing consulting of this nature for literally hundreds of fellow collectors over the years, I formed RARE MILITARIA in an effort to make this type of common sense information available on a broad scale to a new generation of military enthusiasts. As a foundation to this effort, I have often found it of value to suggest that collectors ask themselves a number of philosophical questions before they ever consider starting a collection for military artifacts. At a minimum, this includes the following basic issues:
Helping fellow collectors find the answers to these and other important questions is the principal mission of RARE MILITARIA. In fulfilling this goal, there are a number of suppositions, observations, philosophical attitudes and prejudices which RARE MILITARIA operates under that you should be aware of:
AXIOM ONE
The Germans did not produce items with any thought or concern that they might be collected a half century later by non German speaking peoples. Moreover, pragmatic issues such as sales forecasts and profits, shortages of materials, the political need to support their other European allies, the loss of records and the absence of first party witnesses to events, often resulted in the production of items that some "expert" today will tell you cannot exist.

AXIOM TWO
Never buy an item you do not have a good feeling about simply because some "expert" tells you it is something you should do. In furtherance to this, it is similarly a mistake to assume that someone knows more about an item than you do simply because they have an "expert" reputation. As an aside, you would be amazed how often a so called "expert" will provide you with "absolute" guidance about a particular item while never actually having seen or inspected one before.
AXIOM THREE
Never place undue trust in the opinions expressed by politically correct individuals who feel it necessary to seriously degrade the service of Confederate, German, and/or other soldiers who served on the losing side of a war, as a necessary element of their expressed position on any related collecting topic. All too often, these individuals allow their prejudices to cloud their ability to fairly evaluate historical issues, particularly in research issues.
In keeping with this latter point, it should be reciprocally noted that RARE MILITARIA similarly has no sympathy, either expressed or implied, for hate groups or others who seek to utilize the past, honorable and dedicated service of Confederate, German and other soldiers to promote their current political agendas.
