The writing is in Sutterlin script and reads "Erichenlaub No. 494 verleihen bekommen. Obersalzberg, 20.6.44" ( Honor Leaf Number 494 presentation received, Obersalzberg 20 June 1944- Hoffman). |

While it is impossible to be absolutely certain whether Professor Hoffman was signing his own name, and/or making a note of the award winner's name, the signed name "Hoffman" is consistent with other examples of his signature. |

| Incidentally, the fact in this instance that the Oak Leaf winner and Professor Hoffman shared the same common last name is a mere coincidence, as they were not related in any manner. | |||||||||||||||
| In addition to the hand written notation discussed above, the number "No 61900" is stamped in faded purple ink on the lower left side of the reverse of the photo. A slash with the number "377" in pencil appears just below and to the right of the stamped number. | |||||||||||||||

| To the right of that number, in the same faded purple ink, is a Hoffman Studio disclaimer showing his address and warning that unathorized copying of this photo is forbidden. Barely visible in the scan above, but easily seen on back of the actual picture, is the photo paper name "Agfa BROVIRA appearing twice. | |||||||||||||||
