2 Piece Lot of PANZER COLONEL ERNST-WILHELM HOFFMAN's KNIGHTS CROSS WITH OAK LEAF CLUSTER AND HEINRICH HOFFMAN PRESENTATION PHOTO
OAK LEAF CLUSTER
Pictured left is a slightly enlarged photograph of the front view of the Oak Leaf Cluster as it appears mounted on the ribbon.
As evidenced by the photo of the entire Knight's Cross appearing on page 1, the Oak Leaf has not been cleaned in any way and possesses some wear marks on its highest points.
The photo of the reverse of the Oak Leaf, shown on the left below, clearly demonstrate its age, as well as its close interaction with the ribbon and medal. Also
visible in this shot is the "800" silver mark..
Due to the ridges created by the reinforcement of ribbon, it was not deemed prudent to attempt to remove the Oak Leaf from the ribbon after all these
years. Despite that limitation, the photo below clearly demonstrates the age and quality of not
only the Oak Leaf, but the Knight's Cross medal as
well. Also visible in this close up is the "L17" maker mark seen on the upper right corner of the cross.
NOTE: It is almost impossible to remove the Oak Leaf
from the ribbon without causing damage to the stitching.
