|
The item displayed to the left is a personal, hand signed card that was sent by Adolf Hitler in 1936 to Reichsleiter Max Amann (1891-1957) in Munich. The card is dated the 22nd of April, (2) two days after the Fuhrer's birthday, and thanks Reichsleiter Amann in obviously warm and cordial terms for the birthday wishes he previously sent on the 20th. The card is seven and five eights (7 5/8th") inches long by four and three fourths (4 3/4") inches wide and is made from a heavy, off white colored stock of excellent quality and texture. |

As is clearly visible in the photo above, it is addressed to Reichleiter Amann's personal residence address in Munich and bears the personal style, gilt party eagle in the upper left hand corner consistent with the personal stationery items normally utilized by the Private Chancellery office for person communications of this nature. The message on the card is typed, not printed, and roughly translates as follows: "My Dear Max: Heartfelt thanks for your best wishes (on my birthday). It always pleases me very much to hear from my old comrades. In memory of the old times" Consistent with the long and intimate relationship that existed between Reichleiter Amann and the Fuhrer since they first served together as enlisted men in the same unit (Infantry Regiment List) in World War I., the card bears a firm, genuine ink signature, and is not an auto pen or printed. |

| Pictured to the left is an enlarged photograph of the eagle seen in the upper left hand corner of this item. The gilt color, though still vibrant after all these years, has taken on a slight patina. The absolute quality of the workmanship and detail in this eagle is elf evident from the picture and requires no further edification. The eagle and lettering underneath are both raised above the surface of the card and can be easily felt by simply running a finger over them. | ||||||||||||

As demonstrated by the enlarged photo of the signature on the card, it is definitely hand signed. Moreover, the smooth flow and areas of ink fading and pressure, clearly show that it was written free hand and not traced or photo copied. |
