FOUR (4) ITEM LOT CONSISTING OF TWO (2) MATCHING SHOULDER BOARDS AND A BREAST EAGLE PREVIOUSLY WORN BY GENERAL FELD MARSCHALL VON REICHENAU, TOGETHER WITH AN ORIGINAL POSTCARD
Seen left is an enlarged photo of one of the shoulder boards. Clearly visible in this shot is the obvious aged look of the gold brocade materials and stitiching. Equally visible is the heavy patina found on the solid silver, crossed batons attached to the shoulder boards, which not only demonstrates the use of superior quality materials, but also many years of age.
Below is a photo of the underside of both shoulder boards showing the attaching straps which are both fully intact and ready for use. Also visible in this photo is the fact that the fold over pins for the crossed batons are also made out of silver which has turned gray black with patina from many years of age. The dark areas seen in the red felt underlay are small
moth nips which, although present, do not take away from the beauty or functionality of these boards in any way.
